cannot update your BT

I keep getting an error message (I close BT before downloading). The alert message reads: RegCreateKeyEx failed: code 5, Access is denied
What does that mean and what I must I do to fix this. I shut my anti virus software before I tried the download.

If you are using any windows version newer than XP, try running the installer as admin (right click the installer, Run as Administrator).

If you are running XP, login as Administrator, or create a new account with Administrator rights.

Shut down your antivirus while installing.

Larry I have the same problem, shutting down anti virus did not help, I am running windows 7, currently at BT 2011r02(seems to be working fine) trying to update to 2012r04

You will probably need to take ownership of the key.
