I'm still testing BT in Vista. My system becomes unstable after a few hours (windows not responding to clicks, etc) but I'm not sure if it is due to the hardware I'm using (old computer upgraded to Vista, with BSOD's even in XP) or something else. I'll look for a more stable computer for testing.
P.S.: My email to the user who asked me about the use of BT in Vista bounced back, so I'm posting my reply here.
I also have the same problem on a brand new Vista system. I have been using BT on XP with no trouble for a whle, but on a new laptop with Vista OS, the system becomes unstable after a few hours, exactly as you describe. Any ideas what might be the trouble?
This morning BT will not start. A pop up window appears in Vista saying BT has stopped working. Did uninstall/reinstall, still have the same problem.

As a side note, after running all day without BT I've had none of the instability issues that have been plaguing me. I really want to use BT, can these problems be cured?
ditto ACS,
At present I have a work around by running BT on another computer running XP and connecting to the vista machine by LAN. BT will connect with the TWS on the vista machine quite happily, and there are no instability issues. For me, this shows that the instability is due to BT.
PLease let us know if this issue is likely to be resolved.
Thanks
Testing update:
1. I don't get BSOD's anymore after removing the SATA drive
2. Vista still hangs after 12 hours of running, but no app crash messages.
Note: The behaviour of the statistics panel when moving the main BT body is similar to BT installed in a Windows 2000 system. Still testing with the statistics panel hidden (unchecked) - might result in more stability.
Yesterday I was able to run BT on another computer connected to TWS on my Vista machine. This morning when I tried to do the same I got the following error message when trying to connect:
07.0130a11 API 900 Error Report
Error occured on Line 30 of procedure frmMain: Get PossError 13
(Type Mismatch) in Procedure GetPos of Form frmMain
a13 does not run on my main computer. I still get the same Bracket Trader has stopped working error message when I try to start the program in Vista. The a13 does run again on my laptop in XP connected to TWS in Vista but that is not a long term solution.
Does it stop right away on startup? Hide your statistics window (bottom panel).
I can get BT to run for several hours before any problems and I don't get any error messages. The a13 seems to be more stable since I can recover Vista after closing BT.
BT never starts. The error window pops up instead. Even tried to run BT in WinXP compatibility mode, no help. This is what shows up in Vista problem report:

When BT connected to Esignal or IB after while computer starts acting funny.I can see bits of display and normally the bottom of the screen-toolbar appears on the top of the screen. It does not happen when I don't use BT.I am using new HP with Vista installed.
I only added memory otherwise no changes to any hardware.
I have no problem on the other computer with XP
Thanks
Joseph
Joseph, I've been stable for two days now since updating to a13 version. I had the same exact problems before and almost RMAed my video card because I thought it was the problem at first. Do you have the Stats Window closed as Larry suggests? Perhaps try uninstalling BT and doing a clean install of new version?
Joseph I can tell you I've had IB TWS, Sierra Charts, BT and browser windows/e-mail all open the last two days with no problems. I have 2GB of RAM and a 2GB USB drive for ReadyBoost. Maybe it's a memory issue?
ACS
I have 1,5 GB
BT + Esignal or BT+TWS either combo crushes.
Doesn't crush without BT.
Also having insuficient memory wouldn't act this way,I think.
I'll try theese combinations on XP tomorrow.
XP-TWS+BT Memory 512MB
Vista-TWS+BT Memory 1.5GB
Both Basic entry and exit window + DOM
I left it working for approx 4 hours.
Came back and everything look good.
On Vista started minimizing/maximizing main window as problem
started appearing.I continued same with DOM and main window as display started deteriorate and finally all went messy.
On XP -NO problem watsoever.
Any suggestions?
Or should I say Hasta La Vista VISTA?
Last week I ran BT on my backup XP computer connected by LAN to TWS on my main Vista computer. You might try that for a while if you can, it sure beats replacing operating systems IMO. I'm sure Larry will solve the problem.
I just released a14, which was tested on a Vista machine - no problems so far but you won't have the time on the window title bar (this is the one causing the errors in my system).
No problem here.
You may try Right click on installer-properties-compatibility mode-
place tick in Run this program in compatibility mode for and choose WindowsXP service pack2.
hope this help.
